The guide library
Ten guides we wrote for practice owners
Worksheets, benchmark tables, and decision grids drawn from the work we do for clients every quarter. No gated webinar, no drip sequence, no sales deck. 65 pages, all free, and yours in one download.
Why we give these away
Every one of these started as a question a client asked us
A dentist asks what their scanner really costs after tax. Another asks whether their salary split would survive scrutiny. A third asks why they are busier than last year and taking home less. We wrote the answer down properly, once, and now we hand it over. If a guide saves you a phone call, good. If it prompts one, better.
What is inside
The complete library
Ten guides, 65 pages. Each one is a working document with worksheets and tables, not a brochure.
- Working checklist
The 41 Deductions Dental Practices Miss
A working checklist of 41 legitimate deductions available to a dental practice, organised across clinical operations, facility, payroll, owner expenses, and growth. Most owners who go through it honestly find between eight and twenty items they are not currently claiming.
- Free service brief
The Second Opinion
What the free return review actually covers: the nine points a KLAS advisor works through on your last two returns, the four-step process, and what lands in your inbox on day five. It also says plainly who the review is not built for.
- Owner compensation worksheet
Are You Paying Yourself the Wrong Way?
How the salary and distribution split works for an S Corporation owner, and a five-step method for building a defensible reasonable-compensation figure from your actual clinical schedule. Includes a fill-in worksheet and the cases where the election is not worth making yet.
- Decision guide
LLC, S Corp, or PLLC?
How each structure is taxed, where each one fits, and the income thresholds where the right answer changes. Covers the four trigger events that demand a review and why the costliest problems are usually right choices nobody revisited.
- Benchmark guide
Busy Is Not the Same as Profitable
The overhead ranges a healthy practice runs, category by category, as percentages of collections rather than production. Includes a twelve-month scoring worksheet and what to check before you react to a number that comes back red.
- Year-end playbook
12 Moves to Make Before December 31
Twelve year-end moves ordered by deadline, from projecting the year before you decide anything through to confirming quarterly estimates on January 15. It also covers the three things not to do in the last weeks of December.
- Equipment decision guide
Should You Buy It This Year?
What a $120,000 scanner actually costs after tax, how Section 179, bonus depreciation, and the standard schedule compare across years, and when waiting until January is worth more than the deduction. Includes a purchase decision worksheet.
- New owner setup kit
Your First 90 Days of Practice Finances
The banking, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax setup we build for every new practice owner, sequenced across the first ninety days. Includes the four accounts a practice should run and the five filings new owners most commonly miss.
- Monthly scorecard
The Nine Numbers to Check Every Month
The nine numbers worth reviewing on the first business day of every month, how to calculate each one, and the healthy target for each. Includes a twelve-month tracking grid and five habits that stop the review from quietly lapsing.
- Seller and buyer briefing
The Tax Decisions That Cost Sellers Six Figures
How purchase price allocation, sale structure, and payment timing decide what a seller actually keeps at closing. Covers asset versus equity sales, why C Corporation sellers have to plan years ahead, and the four questions to ask before signing anything.

Fair questions about the form
Is the library really free?
Yes. All ten guides, no cost, no trial, no credit card. We ask for your name, practice name, email, and phone so we know who we are talking to and can follow up once if something in the guides looks relevant to your situation.
Why do you need my phone number?
Because the most useful thing that comes out of these guides is usually a five-minute conversation, not a download. If you would rather we did not call, say so in the follow-up email and we will keep it to email only. We do not pass your number to anyone else.
Will I be added to a mailing list?
Only if you tick the box. The library and one follow-up email are sent either way. The newsletter is opt-in, and unsubscribing takes one click.
Do I have to download all ten?
No. After you submit the form you get one archive with everything plus individual links for each guide, so you can take only what is useful. The same links arrive by email so you can come back later.
Are these specific to dentistry?
Most of the examples are dental, because that is the largest part of our practice. The structural material on entity choice, owner compensation, equipment timing, year-end planning, and sale allocation applies to any owner-operated healthcare practice. The overhead benchmarks are the one place where the numbers are genuinely dental-specific.
How current is the material?
The planning principles are stable, but figures tied to legislation move. Bonus depreciation percentages and contribution limits in particular have changed repeatedly, so confirm the current year figure before you plan around it. If anything in a guide looks out of date, tell us and we will send the revision.
Would you rather we just ran your numbers?
The guides are the do-it-yourself version. If you would rather hand it over, send us your last two returns and we will tell you in writing what we would have done differently. Free, and the findings are yours either way.
